Innovation has always been at the heart of the Volkswagen Beetle.
Over the years, the little car with the big personality has undergone a plethora of facelifts and design upgrades.
So it seems only natural that the advertising should match the brand. That is certainly the thinking behind the iconic car’s recent campaign launch in Canada.
The latest version of the Beetle has a very modern look, but also keeps a lot of the car’s traditional features.
So agency Red Urban came up with a fantastic campaign that complements both, using the latest augmented reality technology to enhance the more traditional outdoor ads.
It means gigantic billboards in Toronto’s Dundas Square and adverts on transit shelters dotted around Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver now transform into stunning animations for iPad and iPhone users.
Animations include the Beetle jumping off a massive ramp that appears to emerge from the side of a building and another in which the car smashes through transit shelters. To see the hidden content users simply have to download the free app.
The ‘Juiced Up’ campaign is due to run until November 26, but you can catch some of the stunning animations below.
