In an effort to promote literacy and add artistic flair to the city, the National Literacy Trust and Wild in Art have collaborated on a public art project called Books About Town. As of right now, there are dozens of benches shaped like open books, boasting colorful illustrations, throughout the streets of London.
The 50 BookBench sculptures created for the project will be on display along four trails (which can be viewed and downloaded here) until October.
On October 7th they will be sold at a public auction, with all proceeds going to the National Literacy Trust—a charity dedicated to raising the literacy levels of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.
