Interactive website

Bonpoint, the luxury French fashion house for children, wants you to play peekaboo with its child models.
Fred & Farid Shanghai produced an interactive website for the brand, which asks for access to your webcam and microphone. Adorable children in expensive clothing stare at you while you cover your eyes, uncover them, and shout peekaboo. The adorable children then laugh.

Photos of Swimming Pools From Around the World.

Dutch photojournalist Marieke van der Velden has been taking photos of swimming pools in each country she has traveled to since 2009. Her work for NGOs has taken her to Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and beyond. Much of her organization-based work can be draining and emotional due to the subject matter she is photographing. Visiting swimming pools can give her a bit of refuge. ‘They have a quiet, positive atmosphere. They give me a rest from the reportages‘ she tells the Guardian.

She will hunt for a nice pool and not just the common oval shaped ones. She expresses that she really needs to ‘click’ with a pool before she shoots it – otherwise, she will just continue till the right one is found. Check out the selection of pools below and check out more of Mariekes work on her website:

The Blood Charger Poster – Fundação Pró-Sangue.

blood poster

To encourage people to donate blood, ad agency Publicis Sao Paulo and Fundação Pró-Sangue have collaborated to create a special poster.
Called the ‘Blood Charger Poster’, it serves two purposes—one is to allow people to charge their mobile phones, while the other is to encourage them to donate their blood.
Designed with the image of an arm, a red charging cord runs from the poster—making it look like blood is being drawn from it.
On the poster is the tagline, which reads, “If you need, we’re here for you. Why not return the favor? We need blood.”

Dragons in pop culture – Max Fleishman and Fernando Alfonso III.

Created by Max Fleishman and Fernando Alfonso III, this chart documents the smallest and largest dragons in pop culture.

Fans of both Harry Potter and Game Of Thrones would be able to see how big a Hungarian Horntail is as compared to Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons, while Pokémon fans will be disappointed to know that Charizard and Dragonite appear tiny when placed beside Smaug from The Hobbit.

British singer Tom Fletcher and his wife Giovanna welcomed their first child earlier this week. To commemorate their son’s birth, Fletcher released a heartwarming time-lapse that captured the different stages of pregnancy that Giovanna underwent.

Titled ‘From Bump to Buzz’, Fletcher documented his wife’s growing baby bump with a picture every day. As the days go on, her bump gets bigger, until she had to leave for the hospital, only to return with newborn baby Buzz.

If the time-lapse wasn’t sweet enough, Fletcher is seen strumming on his guitar and singing a self-written song called ‘Something New’ to his baby.

The new image of a Syrian refugee girl wearing a head scarf is meant to raise awareness fo the brutal three-year-long civil war.

Three. Long. Years.

And the world stands by…

Elusive artist Banksy has revisited one of his most renowned works — a stencil of a girl releasing a red heart-shaped balloon — to mark the third anniversary of March, 15, 2011, the start of the ongoing Syrian civil war.

The reimagined image on his website shows a little Syrian refugee wearing a traditional head scarf to call attention to what has been called the worst humanitarian crisis of the 21st century.

The original image by British graffiti artist Banksy, above, was first seen in 2002.

Nearly half the Syria’s population has fled its homes in fear and well over 100,000 people have been killed.
Vigils will be held in 30 countries across the globe ahead of the anniversary, ideally at sunset on Thursday. Participants are encouraged to bring candles and red balloons illuminated by LED lights. Then, red helium-filled balloons, with messages of solidarity attached, will be released in a recreation the street artist’s work.

These actions are intended to raise awareness for an international project called #WithSyria.
The project does not promote either side of the bloody conflict. Instead it calls upon like-minded people from across the globe to stand with the millions of men, women and children who struggle every day to survive.

A statement on Banksy’s website recalls 15 children who were arrested and tortured for painting anti-authoritarian graffiti in the town of Daraa in southwestern Syria n March 2011.

“The protests that followed their detention,” the statement reads, “led to an outbreak of violence across the country that would see a domestic uprising transform into a civil war displacing 9.3 million people from their homes.”

British actor Idris Elba narrated a short, poignant video — featuring Banky’s artwork — to support #WithSyria.
It highlights the heartbreaking fact that 95% of Syria’s population is not combatants, but everyday people caught in the crosshairs of political turmoil.

Banksy’s original image was first seen in London in 2002.

Love Letter – How Charles Eames Proposed to Ray Eames.

charlesrayeames

Charles Eames (June 17, 1907 — August 21, 1978) — pioneer of the modernist aesthetic, endlessly quotable sage of design, rare interviewee, legendary visualizer of the scale of the universe — was also one half of one of the most celebrated couples in creative history, the architect/painter powerhouse he formed together with his wife, the painter and reconstructionist Ray Eames. And while extraordinary love letters generally have an ineffable and enduring appeal, there’s something particularly mesmerizing about epistles exchanged by two people who are partners in every possible sense of the word and whose romantic relationship is also a creative collaboration.

Joining these ranks of love letters, like those between Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, Georgia O’Keeffe and Alfred Stieglitz, and Henry Miller and Anaïs Nin, are the Eameses, who fell in love at the legendary Cranbrook Academy and remained together until Charles’s death nearly four decades later.

In this disarming love letter — a true testament to the modernist ethos of piercing honesty, exquisite simplicity, and elegant imperfection — Charles proposes to Ray:

Dear Miss Kaiser,

I am 34 (almost) years old, singel (again) and broke. I love you very much and would like to marry you very very soon.* I cannot promise to support us very well. — but if given the chance I will shure in hell try –

*soon means very soon.

What is the size of this finger??

as soon as I get to that hospital I will write “reams” well little ones.

love xxxxxxxxxx

Charlie

Ray, of course, said “yes.” Fourteen years into their marriage, the romantic spark was still very much ablaze as Ray sent Charles this charming collage of a love letter:
